Initiatives.

NEST Kenya has several initiatives and programs to benefit the children and families living in the Korogocho Slum. We need your help.

Our Programs

Education.

  • Empower orphans and vulnerable children in our society through educational sponsorships, bursaries, school equipment and uniforms.

  • Mentor children on career choices and academic excellence. 

  • Disseminate information on social issues affecting young girls. 

  • Take children on educational trips to increase their knowledge and exposure.

Advocacy and Awareness.

  • Promote a culture of sports, songs, traditional dance and poems among community members 

  • Create awareness on children and human rights and protection issues through art, open forums, debates and audio-visual programs.

  • Nurture and promote untapped talents in collaboration with like minded organizations

Health and Environment.

  • Target children affected and infected with HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and environmental issues, considering the situation in Korogocho and its pressing health concerns.

  • Prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS by creating awareness to the community.

  • Produce sustainable environmental measures to improve on health and sanitation.

  • Launch a campaign against drug abuse and irresponsible alcohol consumption. 

  • Provide waste, recycling and management awareness and knowledge.

Women and Youth Economic Empowerment.

  • Facilitate micro-credit lending scheme targeting vulnerable women and youth who work at the Dandora dumpsite.

  • Eradicate a cycle of poverty through small-scale businesses among the women and youth.

  • Facilitate business trainings and development programs among the youth and women

  • Create links and connections with financial institutions e.g banks for resource mobilization.

  • Connect youth and women to business mentorship programs.
